YOGABARREDANCE
The Supportive Psoas
This is an event series

9 week series

Inspired by Donna Farhi and Leila Stuart's book "Pathways to a Centred Body". Jackie has adapted practices into an 9 week series exploring everything Psoas for nervous system repair, alignment and overall health and well-being.

So that is the Psoas (pronounced SO-AS)? The psoas is a long muscle located deep in the body, close to the spine and brim of the pelvis, it connects the back body to front body and spine to legs. It helps with posture, movement and stability. It is also commonly referred to as the ‘fear’ muscle and can mirror the state of your nervous system.

In this series we discover and explore the state of your Psoas, your primary core muscle, through a slow, gentle yet powerfully effective yoga protocol or sequence. Learn what your Psoas needs so that it can function at its best and offer up the possibility for more structural integrity, vitality, strength, flexibility and resilience.

Each week we will move through the entire protocol however we will focus more deeply one part section each week to get a complete and thorough understanding of each part of the protocol. By the end of the series you will be able to decipher which part or parts of the protocol you may need to practice to support your psoas and your nervous system.

Protocol segments include:

  • Locate
  • Soften
  • Lengthen
  • Balance
  • Strengthen
  • Move
  • Relax

This muscle has a profound impact on our health and so it is truly worth spending this time to learn how to really take of it so that it can do its job efficiently and that is to SUPPORT you!

Benefits of this series include:

  • Decrease in pain, stiffness and discomfort
  • Increased capacity to relax
  • Improved sleep and digestion

“So much gratitude to you Jackie as I have learnt so much in the past 8 weeks. I think acknowledging that the psoas muscle is ... where I have been holding on for fear of hurting myself. The simple action of breathing into the psoas and doing the exercises have been truly life changing for me....” Virginia
