Private Barre classes offer you one-on-one attention where we can tailor classes to suit your needs, abilities and interest.
In private classes, you’ll get personalised advice and teachings that you might not receive in a group class. This can help you feel more connected to your practice and understand yourself and what your needs are better.
We can explore what it is that you would like to gain from the classes and work together to reach your goals.
We’ll make sure you’re safe if you have an injury, try different exercises that feel good for your body, and change things that aren’t working for you. With private Barre classes, we can focus on what you need and go at your own speed.
How long is a typical Barre on demand class?
Online classes generally range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes.
Do I need any equipment for a Barre on demand class?
It’s nice to have an exercise mat and a chair anything else is a bonus. However if you do wish to purchase a couple of small apparatus to enhance your practice, I would suggest investing in the following in order of priority. They can all be picked up at stores like Kmart for really great value.
1. Small 1kg or 2kg weights
2. Pilates ball
3. Resistance band
4. Swiss/medicine ball
Is a Barre on demand class suitable for beginners?
If you are new to Barre, it's important to remember that this is a more dynamic class and often includes the additional challenge of working with weights or resistance. You will need to discern if you need to take a break, slow down and pace yourself or modify an exercise if it isn’t suitable for you. This is key to building up your strength, LISTEN to YOUR body at all times.
Can I take a Barre on demand class if I am pregnant or have an injury?
Jackie is not a pre-natal teacher and would therefore recommend you seek a prenatally trained teacher for this stage of life. In terms of working with an injury, you are encouraged to seek out professional advice from a medical practitioner however the best guide is to only do what feels right and listen to your body. You may need to change the pace, the repetitions and work within your own range of ability. Which is ALWAYS welcome and encouraged.
How often should I take a Barre on demand class to see results?
You could take a class every day if you wanted to but it would be important to mix up the workouts between upper and lower body or different themes to give your muscles time to recover. Two or three classes a week would have you feeling the difference and reaping the rewards.
What should I wear to a barre on demand class?
Wear clothes you will be comfortable in so you can move easily – something with a bit of stretch, such as gym wear, singlets and t-shirts, leggings, shorts and track pants. Ideally you would practice barefoot however you can wear socks if they have some grip. If you’d like it can be fun to wear something that makes you feel inspired to dance, workout and sweat 😉
How is a barre on demand class different from an in-person barre class?
There are some great benefits from on demand classes including not having to drive anywhere, you are not distracted by others in the room or go into ‘comparison’ mode. You can practice anywhere, anytime that suits you and select how long a class you have time for. The only downside, if there was one, is that Jackie cannot offer personal feedback to how you are moving your body. This is why its EXTRA important to really listen to your body and take care. Don’t overextend or push or force, let your body guide you as to what it does and doesn’t want to do.
