I’m new to your classes. Is it best to book a private before joining a group class?
If you are coming injury free and pain free, then it is not necessary to book a private, however you are most welcome to do so if it will help build your confidence up and so you know what to expect from a group class. This could be done in person or online.
If you are working with an injury or condition, then I would suggest an Info Call to discuss which class would be suitable for you and or a private session so we can make the best recommendation on moving forward onto more private sessions or group classes.
I have an injury or condition. Where do I start and what can I do?
If you are working with an injury or condition, then I would suggest an Info Call to discuss which class would be suitable for you and or a private session so we can make the best recommendation on moving forward onto more private sessions or group classes.

What is the difference between Yoga and Barre classes?
Barre classes are a little more dynamic and upbeat than yoga classes. Whilst both classes have their unique benefits they do have different focus and approaches. Yoga can have physical and mental motives, such as achieving a clear mind and reducing stress, Barre is more focused on working out. Yoga places more emphasis on slowing down, balance and connection, while a Barre workout is more focused on strengthening muscles in ways similar to Ballet and Pilates and includes some cardio to get your energy moving.
Do I need to be really flexible?
Definitely not. Regular practice of Yoga, Barre or Dance can help to build strength, flexibility, balance as well as to relax, feel calm and find a sense of inner peace. You do not need any of these attributes to begin practicing classes.
I’m interested in Sensual Embodied Dance but I’ve never danced before. Can I still attend?
Absolutely, plenty of women attend never having danced before and it does not matter one bit. This is not an advanced dance class and you are not required to learn choreography. It is very different to your average ‘dance class’.
We follow a very unique and specific format that supports participants to ease their way in with fun and guided practices.
Is Sensual Embodied Dance (SED) right for me if I don’t feel very ‘sensual’?
To begin, a lot of people confuse the word ‘sensual’ with ‘sexual’, they are different! Sensual is essentially feeling our senses alive and awakened which can feel very empowering, rejuvenating, edgy, satisfying and joyful.
SED is not about feeling a particular way or turning up only if everything is perfectly aligned. SED is all about showing up in the messiness, chaos, bliss, fear, overwhelm, delight and moving whatever we are feeling, sensing and experiencing from moment to moment. It can be uplifting, enlightening and a great way to meet a community of women who are supportive and accepting. All women are welcome and celebrated in this space.
What should I wear?
Wear clothes you will be comfortable in so you can move easily – something with a bit of stretch, such as gym wear, singlets and t-shirts, leggings, shorts and track pants. We practice barefoot however you can bring socks along for comfort.
When do I need to arrive?
In person - Ideally you want to arrive 10 minutes early for your first class. After this, a few minutes early is fine. Jackie will be at the studio at least 15 minutes before every class.
Online – At least 5 minutes early so you can check all of your tech is working, you can see, and hear your device and your screen is also sharing a view of you (if you’d like too).
On Demand - When you're ready!
Do I need to bring anything?
Always check your email confirmation for any specific requests but generally the answer is… All props and equipment are provided for your comfort. BYO full water bottle and you may wish to bring a towel to place on the mat if you tend to get a bit sweaty. And I always recommend bringing layers so you don’t get too hot or cold.
Where are you located?
In person yoga classes are mostly held at Brunswick Valley Community Centre, South Beach Rd, Brunswick Heads (Opposite the surf club) however events will be noted on your email for confirmation. There is plenty of parking around but always check the signage.
Is there anything else I need to do to prepare for class?
– Try to avoid eating a heavy meal for at least 1 (or preferably 2) hour(s) before your class.
– When you arrive place your shoes at the door and switch your mobile off.
*Please advise the teacher of any injuries, medical conditions, if you are pregnant or menstruating.
What are the terms of class bookings and cancellations?
